hello. this right now is the poorest i have been in three years. i got a new job though, but it doesn't start until the ninth of march, so i basically will be eating cheese on toast and only doing free things until then. that's ok. the weather is getting less like winter and more like spring (it has been raining more, as opposed to snowing), and that is ok too. yesterday i had a midterm in which we were given eight illustrations and told to "use our imaginations" to describe what is happening in them. i could have written absolutely anything? i don't know how our instructor will be marking those. i have a midterm in french cinema on monday, and i have two proposals due on monday as well; one for pixel gallery and one for lens factory, both of which i am working on with steven. my picture was in the society pages last week. i want to buy a trench coat, a new dress, or maybe two. i have shortbread in the oven. i have a lot of film to drop off, but i can't afford to pick it up, so that will have to wait for a little while. i'm thinking of selling some things (clothes, cameras) but i dont' know how to do that or where to begin. i have a lot to draw. i saw notorious. you should too. today i picked up tickets to see ariel pink & akron/family. cant wait! cantwait! also, this morning when i was coming back from class, my streetcar driver was violently air-drumming in time with the sound of his turn signals. |

For myself I must remind that the woods are usually kind and the sea is not mine and when you're all alone and chasing after deer don't be upset if it's scared and you can't reach it. I know that you are fast but it's much faster and after a while you can't keep up so you start to lag behind but it doesn't know that you've resigned so off a cliff it falls to the sea and you are sad but the sea is not mine,

I am completely over the hill right now. I have two essays due next week and three finals the week after. Last Saturday I got taken for a sweeeeet drive in an ugly hummer and I quit my job. I have never quit a job before without finding a new one first, but I just could not stand it anymore. I didn't even give them two weeks notice. I just left. I felt so relieved, but then I kind of started panicking because now I have no income haha. Fantastic.
I am so excited for December (once uni stuff is finished). No classes and Christmas and my birthday and New Years and getting ready for my group show, which opens at xpace gallery January 9th.
I accidently double-exposed an entire roll of film, which I am not too too pleased about. I am supposed to shoot this band soon, but they are not very good, although a little bit popular... I hope they pay me, or at least pay for developing/printing costs. We'll see how that goes... Oh, and Fem asked me to do all the hoa hoa's upcoming album art. Exciiiiitingggg.

I dont feel as though I have much to say lately; nothing is too new. I have just been working a lot and going to uni and I already have a midterm next week, in Canadian Painting, but I dont feel as though I've learned anything yet. My instructor for that course is a curator at the National Gallery and his face is always red; I think he drinks a lot. We have had a lot of hilarious (mis)adventures as of late, and Thursday I am leaving for a little while, to go to Montreal and Ottawa also. There is a boy in my french new wave cinema class that has a Robbie Williams desktop on his computer. I have been obsessed with mood rings lately, and gypsy weddings and Vashti Bunyan's caravan, as well. |

i have felt entirely upsidedown for a while now. it's not necessarily a nice feeling.
i took the subway to dupont circle to visit a friend but by the time i got there i decided i didn't want to visit them after all. i went to the store to buy a snack but ended up buying belmonts instead. i spent two dollars on a used copy of duddy kravitz that i realize now is missing pages fifty-two to sixy-one & ninety-one to ninety-five. i nearly fell up a flight of stairs & then down a flight of stairs, fell asleep (momentary, i think) in starbucks, left my apple on the streetcar, developed film, had a headache, and did literally nothing at work. i tried to go shopping today but i didn't see anything i was interested in except these AMAZING jeffrey campbell brogues, but i felt it would be wrong to spend $300. i went to see an apartment yesterday but the landlord had crazy eyes & it made me nervous. i have to finish two pieces for a show in november, which you should probably come to if you live near me. on sunday we had a funny yard sale and sold everything. i saw ron sexsmith and we had a chat about a cat that was black and crossing our paths, but we agreed it probably wasn't bad luck, just a coincidence. speaking of black cats, i haven't seen my slippi in nearly four days. i hope he is ok. i leave food out for him on our deck & in the mornings it is mostly gone, although that could just be the raccoons and squirrels having a midnight snack. i hope not.
